Malad vs Declo

Friday evening we played Declo HS at Declo.  It is 9 miles out of Burley, a beautiful farming area where you will find fields of sugar beets.  Declo usually beats Malad.  We were prepared for a battle.

This was the half time score.  Home is 6 and Visitors, US ! is 28.

This is the score at the end of the game.  Well, almost the end, with 3 seconds to go I decided to take a picture because they turn  the scoreboard off  soon after the game--and especially when it is a good beating!  Here is some camera video of Kendal. Kendal is on the far left side of our offense. I only try to get some when he is on the side close to where we are sitting.  I also got the end of the game when they line up to greet the other team--which was a sad occasion for Declo.  Our team looks like they have a lot of players because all of the JV football team is also there.  The JV team got beat quite bad and some of them played near the end of the varsity game.

Aubrey's extra points

Aubrey could get 25 extra points for a  class if she took a video of the shuttle passing over Malad Monday night at 8:09 pm.  We watched the clock and wrapped up FHE in time for her to accomplish the task.  The shuttle flew from the west to the east.  It was pretty cool!  The sky was partly cloudy, so any light you see is the shuttle.  Aubrey followed it until it got very small.  The light was as visible, as the first bright star you  see when the stars come out each night--but it moved across the sky as fast as an airplane without sound.  The real bright light at the end of the video is the street light.   (using full screen is best)

What I like around the yard

I wanted to pick the tomatoes so I decided to take pictures before the red was gone.  This tomato planter is in between two tart cherry trees.  The owners like to make cherry juice.  New to me!

Just up a bit is this little apple tree very heavy laden with apples.  I think I will make apple pie filling.

Then there is this tomatillo plant.  I have never seen them growing on the plant.  So far the tomatillo inside the protective cover is the size of a large marble. Notice "Prescott Pig" is right at home.

That is it for the fruit and veggies.  This is a butterfly bush.

I am not sure of the real name for this, but I call them "corn flowers".  They can also be orange.- they are all finished blooming so I don't know the color of all of the plants like this.

 There are several of these trees--they have little red ornamental berries. 

I have never seen a plant like this.  It has white "styrafoam like" balls on it--in a variety of sizes.

This is a Quasimoto evergreen--it has my favorite needles but the weirdest shape ever! So, we went from "Bruce the spruce" to "Quasi".

Kendal's week

Kendal told us one night he wanted to ask Michelle Hill to Homecoming because she is the coolest, cutest girl around.

He got the trusty wooden chest, left over from Marci's date asking's and answering's.  Don't worry--before he took the chest to her house I told him it was "Homecoming" and NOT "Prom".  What would we do without our Mom's!

Kendal took these pictures of himself.  Notice the "old man socks" and the untied shoes.  They wear very nice long game socks--no hairy legs.

Friday we traveled to Ririe.  It was chilly and windy.  Kendal says I only get him standing on the sidelines.  That is where I know the picture will not be blurry.  I really tried to get some other action, but I still forgot to get the scoreboard.  It was 56 to 16,  we won.

Here are two videos.  The first one is Kendal blocking to help Tyrel make a touchdown and the extra point was successful.  The second  is Kendal making a great tackle.  You can't see very well because of all the players on the sidelines, but you can hear people cheering for Kendal.

Marci's VB tournament at SLCC

It was so very great to watch the EAC VB team play on Fri. and Sat. Grandma King went to one match on Fri. and both matches on Saturday.  Allison came for a while, on her lunch break, on Fri.  David, Hailey & Diego (a guy she has been dating) came on Saturday.

They won 3 out of the 4 matches.  They lost against Snow college.  Snow had an outside hitter that was a "weapon" for their team.  Marci played on her hurt left knee. Her tightly wraped knee looks like a knee pad.   Hopefully she can get some time for healing.

Aubrey's VB

First 8th grade VB game.  (Marci,  Alex has on a pair of  spandex you gave to Aubrey.)

You can see another game being played.  To save money in travel and officials, they have several schools gathered to play.

 They do a very cool tradition here.  Each Senior gets a poster to put in a window at their home.  I have seen them around town and wondered if the posters were just for Senior cheerleaders, or football players or class officers.
