Marci mowing

There are a lot of these in the back yard area behind this house.

There really are a lot of them!  This area last year was not watered much and most of the grass is gone--so the weeds came.  It looks better if we just mow down the weeds, especially before the majority of the yellow flowers seed out.

Marci trying out the riding lawn mower.

Marci misses her "quad" activities in Thatcher--this is the best we can do at the present time.

weight lifting and singing

Doing warm up lifts at the Lift-a-thon.  This is one of three stations.  I did not get pictures of the bench press or the clean (when they stand and lift the weight from the floor to their chest and then drop the weight with a big clunk!). The boys are divided by weight.  The groups were the small guys, the medium guys and the hefty ones.  Kendal was in the medium group.  The boys got pledges before hand for the weight they would do at each station.  Kendal is usually quite shy about getting out there and selling tickets or getting pledges, but he did get a few pledges. This is a fund raiser for football.

They get 3 attempts to lift each increased weight.

Dad singing in a group at the Hall of Fame Banquet.
Malad is full of tradition.  They honor a person who has gone out and made their mark on the world.  This time it was a man from Malad High School who coached at Snow College in 4 different sports and then coached basketball at  Colorado State for 26 years, still being the coach with the most wins.

Most of this group is from our Ward.  The man second from the left is from another Ward, but our Ward has a lot of good men singers.  We are not so lucky with the women.  There are altos but we don't have any strong sopranos.

Aubrey's 13th Birthday

Dad lighting the candles on the cake.  I finally broke down and bought some simple sprinkles--had I bought them sooner our Valentine cookies would have looked more festive.  We will be in Prescott in a week, where all the decorating things are, but not soon enough--so I had to buy something (I know I already have)  to make a fairly nice birthday cake for our sweet Aubrey.

Eating hamburgers, chips and strawberry lemonaid.  Aubrey really wanted a "friend" party and her list was 13 girls.  This small house posed a problem so we had the party at the park.

Opening presents at the friend party the day before her birthday, on May 20th.

Opening presents with the family on her birthday.  Aubrey really wanted some Vans shoes.

Marci is home for the summer.

Marci got to Malad after a short stay in St. Johns Arizona--(with her friend Sain)  and a few days in Kirtland New Mexico --to see what Caleb's home is like-- AND Moab Utah.  On her way on north the blue car's brakes went out.  She had to stay  overnight in Moab because a part  needed to be ordered.  She seemed relieved to arrive in Malad.

Marci found a job at the Texaco gas and convenience store.  She trained for 3 hours today.  Selling cigarettes will be challenging  until she learns all about them.  Her next hurdle will be learning about  the lottery sells.  Most people comment on how tall she is.

Marci is accepting the fact that she will never meet anyone her age here in Malad.  She will only be here about 9 weeks.  A person can have enjoyable times with Kendals friends and Aubreys friends for that short a time!

Mr. MHS (Malad High School) contest

This picture was on the advertising poster.  Tickets were $6.  The cheerleaders do this every year as a fundraiser.  Only Juniors and Seniors are eligable to enter.

The opening number.  Kendal is on the far right with the curly blond wig.  He got an award for best "Rock'n Hair".

This is from the "fitness" portion.  Kendal got "best tan" award.

Doing some solo moves.  Kendal did an amazing cartwheel at the end--I was impressed!

All the contestants waiting for the judges.  While waiting the two MC's read information about each young man.  Kendal said his first kiss and who is "classified information"--his dream date would be with Carrie Underwood rip-sticking in a mall with Paul Blart chasing them.

The winner of Mr. MHS was Kaleb Bennett (sitting next to Kendal).

Aubrey's VB in Jackson Hole, WY

Team cheer to start the game.

The club team we signed up under is called NEXT (I don't know what it stands for) age 12-14.   We only paid $90 for the rights to join any desired Saturday tournament and for the uniform.

I finally got Aubrey to smile for the camera. ( I guess Marci would understand the particular court positioning.  Not the typical 2 rows of 3, no way!--there is much strategy involved.)

Our little Malad traveling NEXT team is called "Servivors".  The coach is Cami Tripp, who is also the MHS girls varsity coach.  Cami agreed to coach because she loves VB, and also because  her daughter Peyton is on the team.

The team won 1st place out of 16 teams.  It was nice to end the season on a high note.  There were some not so successful tournaments.

Word is we might host a tournament here in Malad (after the busy month of Mayto make money for next season.
