Cultural Celebration

General authorities arriving on golf carts.  Elder L. Tom Perry,  Elder Russel M. Nelson( with spouses) and several from the quorum of the seventy.
This is the sight I saw when I parked.  Each Stake (13) had an area. At this point they were about done feeding 4,000 youth sloppy joes at the Stake Center across the street.
Each youth had all their belonging in a basket.  There was no privacy for changing from one outfit to another so they  had on spandex and a cap sleeve top as a basic cover.

The link below is a video of the opening number.Aubrey is way in the back and the first few groups of dancers leave to get ready.

 First came the Shoshone.
 Then the immigrants.

Here Malad is representing the Welsh heritage.  Aubrey is not shown.  I only took a video. In the video Aubrey and Griffin start at the far right of the circle.  They are the tallest in the group.  With the bonnets it is hard to tell who is who.
The link for the video is:  http://youtu.be/WTeMzkeFGJk

Then of course the latin workers came to help in the fruit orchards of cherries, peaches and apples..
Successful settlers / prospering / being sent to other areas to settle again.
The East meets the West in the building of the rail road.

 Celebrating Peach Days in Brigham.
Brigham had the first military hospital in Utah.  (dancers dressed like soldiers and nurses, cute dance)
The swing era. Also super cute dance.
 Patriotic portion.  Very cool.
Missionaries and flags from  around the world. Very moving.
Youth with scenes of temples.

Sat. Sept. 8th VB & Wedding

I was glad , this day,  that VB warming up is so long because I made it to Aubrey's game in American Falls, just in time.  I left right after the Temple sealing.  Did not stay for pictures outside the Temple.

They played 2 out of 3 games instead of the 3 out of 5 games.  So I was surprised when after we won the second game, they all started leaving and turning off the lights.  We won 25to 12 and 25 to 7.
15 T-shirts--the girls uses a lot of t-shirts in just a few days with PE everyday and VB practice and games.  This is a typical "sports laundry" situation.
At the reception just passing time.
Grandma King, Aunt Elva and Uncle Steve.  Sorry no pics of the Bride and Groom here,     you will have to look at their facebook.  We got a video of Dad singing with GP and then GP dancing with Hailey but I can't get it to load.  I have been having trouble with that lately. ( The video is on Dads facebook, it took over an hour to load.)

Pocatello VB Tournament

This is volleyball at Pocatello High school.  Aubrey's team played in the tournament there.  The gym is set up with a lower and upper level.  We could not go into the lower level and the upper level has this large fence all around it.  If we sat up where the fence was not in the way then we could not see half the court.  Mom took this picture to so you could see what we could see sitting on the bottom row.

This was the championship game against Canyon Ridge.  Our girls played well all day and won their division.  Notice the birds eye view we have of the game.  It was much better than looking through the fence or seeing only half the court.

Coach talking to the team during a time out.

Aubrey going for the block.  She got a touch on the ball so her team could handle the hit easier.

The Beast getting set up for the hit.  See the focus, the determination the,  hey where's the ball?  What are they all looking at?  Maybe is a bird of something.  Maybe the ball is moving at supersonic speed and therefore is not visible to our untrained eye, or our under $200 camera.  Or maybe it is just so high that it is out of the frame.  Who knows?

Down time between games.  snacks, friends and repeat.  Tournaments are 30% playing, 20% warming up and 50% in between time (boredom).

Aubrey serving.  She is very consistent.  Some aces but pretty much always in play.

Get ready, get set.........

 Jump for the Block!

We are the Champions my friend.  And we'll keep on fighting........., no wait, and we'll go to Panda at the end.      And so ends the day at about 5:30.
