I have been going to do a post on Kendal's many shoes for a while. This morning, as I was gathering the laundry, I had to smile at the places he keeps or leaves his many pairs of shoes.
Boots in the corner of the closet.
Boots outside the closet.
His bag of shoes for flag football.
Shoes under the bench...
shoes by his bed...
a pair under the bed.
Ideally they would mostly fit on these shelves....
sharing the space, and carefully placed.
And, his most recent pair for working at Green Grass Lawn Care and or Davis Sod.
If shoes are super dirty, he leaves them by the back door, which I really appreciate.
Maybe I will count his many t-shirts sometime!

Easter
I tried to get some feed back from "our teenagers" about what they expected for Easter. I did not get much of a response, except I know that Aubrey really likes the mini Cadbury eggs. So, I got things that would be nice to have, and assembled them in one bundle. It was a black and white towel for Aubrey's "hair area" (for all her heated hair gadgets, and collect all the hair product gunk that accumulates-- we can just wash the towel when is needs cleaned), 4 Cafe Rio bowls, it is a new meal we like and we needed something in between a cereal bowl and a flat plate!) Lot's of Cadbury eggs ( the photo is at the end of the day) and pistachio nuts, for the salty snack-er like me.
Kendal asked if we could take pictures "like we used to", so we all happily went outside and chose a spot where the sun was very bright in our eyes. I was glad there was a bright sun!

some Music--finally!!!!
Where's Aubrey?
All the choirs sang a song for the finale called America Again.
I put this video on because it had some parts and variety. ( the boys sing very quiet)
The Spring Concert was tonight. I was thrilled to go to something with music because we do so much with sports.
They began with the 6th,7th& 8th grade Bands, then the High School band, later the 6th,7th & 8th grade choirs and end with the Swing Choir. Each group does 2 to 4 numbers.

this and that
This is how Mechelle answered Kendal for Prom. (about a week before Prom and after she had her feelings hurt, from Kendal's "adventure" on the cruise)
It is a puzzle and says, "Be puzzled no more, I say yes".
I bought some mini marshmallows to make those "noodle nest' (like a rice crispy treat, but with chow mien noodles)--for Activity Days. Aubrey has been enjoying roasting them with a toothpick on the gas stove.
Last appointment at the doctor. He only bandaged the ankle and wants the rest to dry out. We need to put on a salve and vitamin E oil, for dryness. Aubrey can shower again, because this bandage is easy to take off.
Look! No bandages. She still puts a band-aid on the ankle. Aubrey has to put 50 spf sunscreen on the new skin for a year so the skin will not be a different color.
The view out our kitchen window. A farmer starting to work the soil. It has been wet, rainy and challenging to start farming.
I saw something similar my whole childhood, out our kitchen window, until the cement walls went up and the hedge near the house got "gi-normous"!!! (and... there were also some fruit trees)

Prom 2011
They went to dinner at Bubba Crumps house with 4 other couples at 5 pm.
Kendal got ready to pick up Mechelle for promenade and the dance.
The corsage was attached to a bracelet instead of elastic. Cool!
The matching "comfortable" shoes.
Giving Mechelle a flower at promenade.
The theme of the dance was "Lost in Wonderland", decorated with large props from the movie Alice in wonderland.
The dinner group. Sad to see there are some prom dresses that do not follow church standards.
On Saturday the same group of couples went to Ogden to "flow-rider" water fun, dinner and a movie.
Many of the old-timers say that now days the couples just don't know when to "stop" the date.
After the cruise and prom, it is time to save up money !
Kendal is now working for a sod farm and learning all about lawn care. Pizza Stop was a great part time job.

Kendal's Cruise
Kendal took some good pictures. They are mostly of the things he saw. He is not in very many pictures. Hopefully I can get him to write about the pictures sometime. I wrote a bit.
Kendal really liked the huge chandelier.
The group.
Nassau Bahamas
Miami, I think.
When they would dock at ports there would be several other cruise ships all in a row. The EPIC had over 1,000 more people on board than Carnival.
Rain forest in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Kendal saw some black, slick stuff on a rock, so he put it on his face and so did Nate. The group teased them that the substance probably is something from the back end of some obscure animal.
Yes, Kendal found him a little cutie on the Cruise. Saige Benjamin, from the Boise area, member of the church, also a senior in high school, oldest of her family, only girl. Saige has caused a bit of a rif when you figure in Mechelle, but I am glad that Kendal is paying some attention to other girls. I don't think he should kiss them, being a gentleman and attentive to girls is fine--kissing makes the situation more complicated. Actually Kendal says Saige is quite forward.
Where they went snorkeling at St. Thomas.
Killing lots of time in airports.

cookies
I used to make these cookies years ago. I made them today because I did not have any butter. Butter costs more money and is a bad fat, tasty , but BAD.
These cookies are made with canola oil, which is a healthy oil. It has the calories, but not the bad fat.
I made chocolate chip cookies, but the recipe was a cinnamon raisin recipe. You know me, I seldom use a recipe let alone follow it correctly.
Canola oil Cookies
dry ingredients: 1c. flour, 3 c. quick oats, 1 tsp. soda, 1/2 tsp. salt (you may want to add more salt because oil does not have salt like butter ), 1 tsp.cinnamon (if using raisins),1/2 c. raisins, or 1/2 c.chocolate chips
wet ingredients: 1/2 c. oil , 2 eggs, 1 tsp. vanilla, 1/2 c. sugar, 1/2 c. brown sugar (cream well), combine together all ingredients. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Makes at least 24 good sized cookies.
The cookie dough has a different consistency, I did a test cookie first, to see if more flour was needed. The dough was fine, but the cookie stuck a bit to the pan, so I did a quick touch of cooking spray where the cookies would be on the pan.
Aubrey really liked them. Kendal will be so happy to know that I will probably make this recipe a bit more. I love the 3c. of oatmeal, 1/2 c. of fat and only 1 cup of total sweetener. The Cowboy Cookie recipe we have been using lately has 1 cup fat and 2 c. sugar--but it is yummy!
Oatmeal Cinnamon Raisin Cookies are my favorite cookie, but not many others in the family feel the same, but maybe I will make 1/2 a batch sometime.
