Kendals Malad Dragons Football game

The game is starting.  The officials and team captains are out doing "whatever it is they do" to get the games on it's way.  The evening was not cold and the sun was still very much round at 7 pm.  It gets dark here later than anywhere I have ever lived.  It is barely starting to get dark  by 9 pm.  Good ol' daylight savings time.

I took this picture of the whole scene.  Kendal is on the sidelines.  A beautiful rainbow is in the sky.  It was amazing.

For a while there was a double rainbow.  Kendal is playing.  He goes in and out a lot.  Kendal played offense the entire game.  We played Marsh Valley, a school that is bigger, and ranked higher, 3A,  4A, I don't pay much attention to all that but:  We play Marsh Valley because they are close by, but they are not in our district.  Usually Marsh Valley beats us and at times it has been a bad beating--but we won the game 28 to 6--sorry I did not get the score in a photo--they took down the digits very fast, poof! the scoreboard was turned off.  

Aubrey won a t-shirt from the cheerleaders.  It was a very interesting game.  Plenty of running the ball exciting lengthy bursts, and enough passing to ooh and aah about.  I don't know all that much about the game of football, but I am catching on.  Our team did great on defense, March Valley had more players to sub in and bigger too.  There were plenty of yellow flags on plays--Kendal said they played plenty dirty.  We got a few penalties also. 

Back to school

Kendal and Aubrey August 23, 2010 on the first day of school.  Kendal is a Senior and Aubrey is in 8th grade.  

The kids are so tall that I can't take a successful "full length" picture, with this camera or (cramria) without cutting off their heads or feet (when I actually get the photos printed --on the digital image it still looks fine)  so, I just decided to get the top half--you can be  sure as anything that Aubrey is wearing jeans.  Kendal has on khaki shorts.  We have had great luck with finding long enough jeans for Aubrey.  Aubrey is almost 5'10''.  At her sports physical, with her flip lops on, she was 5'10''-- PLUS I pretty much look right at her now.

The first day of school has more "stuff" to take.  Notice they don't have the usual kleenex boxes--they have finally outgrown that part of school supplies.  There is also a heavy dew on the vehicles and grass.  Kendal has on a jacket and Aubrey is toughing  out the morning chill.  

 How wonderful it is to have a sibling who is willing to drive  to school a bit early.  Aubrey has PE first hour and she was concerned about getting to school early enough to get her PE lock and locker, be all dressed down  AND set up her regular locker with all the cool things girls care about.  The lockers are inside, so you can't get to them ahead, like we could in Arizona.  

It is nice to see them head off to school and know they are not the "new" kids anymore.  They both have a pretty good idea of what is going on.   

we finally settled on a house to rent

It has been quite a journey finding a house to rent, that was not scary and was in our price range.  Actually this house is stretching our budget to it's limit.  But, it has 3 and 1/2  bathrooms!   we go from 1 to 3 and 1/2--I have already warned the family that willingness to clean bathrooms will have to increase ALOT.

We are renting this house from Bob and Marilyn White.  They have lived in the house for 9 years and moved to Malad to be near  her mother, who was in Weston.  Sis. Whites mother has passed away and the Whites are ready to move to Boise.  All their children, grandkids and greatgrandkids are all in the Boise area.  They have had the house up for sale for a while  and  are now willing to rent, so they can move on with their  plans.

We had a very nice, older, one bathroom rental house all set up and I for one, was very grateful to have found it.  The date for moving into that house was not set because the people living there now-- are building and they need to finish up drywall and paint.  So, we were hoping to be out of here and into there ( a rental house with no one else's stuff in it, and better parking for our cars.)--by Septembers end for sure.     So.....since I was not sure we could live with one bathroom for years to come, I mentioned, to a nice sister in our Ward, Sis. Tate, that we would like to be next on the list to rent her brothers rental house( a large family home)--when it comes available again.    So, we now know we are looking at moving again at some future unknown time. 

Well, Sister Tate went home teaching with her husband to the Whites.  The Whites were saying they were very discouraged about their house not selling and that they felt so desperate to live closer to their family, that they might consider renting.  Sis. Tate could not wait to tell me the information.  We talked to the Whites and settled on a 2 year rental arrangement.  Bro. White is quite a business man.  We could not afford his first proposal--but he came back with another suggestion the following week.  We took Kendal and Aubrey to see the house, so they could help us make the decision--knowing  there would not be much extra money if we rented this house.  When Dad took the final papers back to the Whites, with us signing yes, we agree with the new terms Bro. White had drawn up--Sis White said  "Oh good"  !  I think she, especially has been very ready to move to Boise.  Since then, Bro. White has asked for our credit report and so far it is still very good.

We don't know when we can move in.  The Whites are in Boise this week trying to figure out what they will do next.  They want to be gone as much as we want to move in, so we are all hoping for the end of Sept or first part of Oct. 
The Whites built a large two car garage ( w/ a 1/2 bath ) and then put a big living area above the garage (with a bathroom).  This is what makes the place so much more do-able for us. No child at home now,  will get this area as their own room--they will be in the house with us. The area above the garage will be great for any company and a place for the kids to have their friends.   The house its self is very nice but does not have very much living area.  It has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, a decent kitchen and laundry room.  The yard is small and a place to put food storage will be interesting, but possible.  So many of the older homes we have seen have "fruit rooms",  basically a cool, dark room for food storage.  But, this house does not have one. 
We are very excited that we don't have to change Wards and that we won't have to move to a bigger place some time in our Malad future.

no more topper shell and EGGS!

The truck no longer has the topper or shell.  Most everyone here calls them a shell. 
Kendal is at football camp all week, well, Mon. -  Fri., at the school--they don't come home at night--and he will be so glad to see the topper shell gone.  Dad and Kendal worked on the truck Saturday morning and they have it running great.  I think Kendal is getting quite attached to the truck.  

 Aubrey and Kendal help our Bishop gather eggs.  Today Aubrey got this 5 gallon bucket, a bit more than half full, at noon.  She will go back at 4 and gather again .  Notice the pretty light green egg.

This is how Aubrey gathers the eggs.  She rides to the chicken coops in this golf cart.  Aubrey loves the company of Kate, the awesome, muscular dog.  Kate pretty much always lays on Aubrey's lap.  Bishop Williams is busy on his farm, a few miles out of town, and he needs help keeping up with the 200 laying hens.

Aubrey loves to make things.  Especially out of pretty paper.  She finally got the frames for these flowers.

Aubrey has a picture in the paper.  Today she is at another VB camp in Pocatello.

We bought an old truck for $700.  We picked it up in Logan Monday evening.  We found out about the truck from Dads good friend Jeff Jensen.  Dad had mentioned to Jeff that if he knew of any old trucks for sale to let us know. 

Kendal had mentioned, when we first found out about the move to Malad, that he would like an old truck to drive.  Well, I am not sure what Kendal's vision of an old truck was--but with the topper off, maybe Kendal will end up enjoying driving this one.  (I don't like toppers either!)  It has almost 100,000 miles and it is a 1989 Ford F150.  Dad said it has been neglected some, was very low on all fluids and could use better back tires.  We found out the original owner (Shari's Dad) treated the truck very well.  We are just going to drive it around here and we all have cell phones handy if there is any trouble. 

We sat down to eat Sunday dinner and realized that Aubrey put a place setting for Marci.  Oh how sweet!  We miss you Marci--hope VB and friends are filling your days with much JOY!  

A Certificate !

WOW !  Malad beautificataion committee gives out certificates if you are chosen for having a well kept yard.  I was impressed.  It was nice to be noticed.  Thanks Dan and Chelsea for the flowers   and Dad and Kendal for mowing and trimming.  I water the dead spots and pick up any trash.
