explaining previous post

So, sometimes computers do things I don't understand, so I could not write about each picture in the previous post.  I tried to get at least one picture of  those who went from our family.  Marci and Kendal could not go because of work and church responsibilities.  It was Dan's  (Chelsea's husband) first Bluth reunion.  Uncle Bobe was in charge and did a wonderful job at planning the activities and meals.

summer stuff

Aubrey and I went to Olympia for a few days to help Dan and Chelsea prepare to move to Minneapolis.  They gave us their plants.   The flowers and herbs  seem to be doing fine in the Idaho weather.

Marci talking with Caleb or Coe, (Caleb Ory Elliot) on the phone.

Flying kites successfully, for the first time--for Marci and Kendal, anyway.  Aubrey has a kite she made in school this year and it flies great.

Marci's kite flying high.  The wind was very gusty and  challenging for kite flying.

Kendal actually got tired of holding the string and held it with his feet for a while.

flowering bushes

Malad yards have wonderful flowering bushes--or trees, they are 3 times taller than I am.  This is the typical lavender colored lilac--and smells  amazing!

A white lilac.  There also are very dark purple lilac bushes here, but not in this yard.  The three colors looks so beautiful together.

This is a "snowball bush"--that is what I have heard it called all my life.  There probably is a better  "gardeny"  name.  You hardly see these anymore--they are very old fashioned.

They look a lot like the popular hydrangia up close--but hanging all over a  bush!  SO PRETTY!

We had a good laugh during scriptures the other night, when noticed that Marci had started to "tear" up her bookmark.  Silly girl.

Marci mowing

There are a lot of these in the back yard area behind this house.

There really are a lot of them!  This area last year was not watered much and most of the grass is gone--so the weeds came.  It looks better if we just mow down the weeds, especially before the majority of the yellow flowers seed out.

Marci trying out the riding lawn mower.

Marci misses her "quad" activities in Thatcher--this is the best we can do at the present time.

weight lifting and singing

Doing warm up lifts at the Lift-a-thon.  This is one of three stations.  I did not get pictures of the bench press or the clean (when they stand and lift the weight from the floor to their chest and then drop the weight with a big clunk!). The boys are divided by weight.  The groups were the small guys, the medium guys and the hefty ones.  Kendal was in the medium group.  The boys got pledges before hand for the weight they would do at each station.  Kendal is usually quite shy about getting out there and selling tickets or getting pledges, but he did get a few pledges. This is a fund raiser for football.

They get 3 attempts to lift each increased weight.

Dad singing in a group at the Hall of Fame Banquet.
Malad is full of tradition.  They honor a person who has gone out and made their mark on the world.  This time it was a man from Malad High School who coached at Snow College in 4 different sports and then coached basketball at  Colorado State for 26 years, still being the coach with the most wins.

Most of this group is from our Ward.  The man second from the left is from another Ward, but our Ward has a lot of good men singers.  We are not so lucky with the women.  There are altos but we don't have any strong sopranos.

Aubrey's 13th Birthday

Dad lighting the candles on the cake.  I finally broke down and bought some simple sprinkles--had I bought them sooner our Valentine cookies would have looked more festive.  We will be in Prescott in a week, where all the decorating things are, but not soon enough--so I had to buy something (I know I already have)  to make a fairly nice birthday cake for our sweet Aubrey.

Eating hamburgers, chips and strawberry lemonaid.  Aubrey really wanted a "friend" party and her list was 13 girls.  This small house posed a problem so we had the party at the park.

Opening presents at the friend party the day before her birthday, on May 20th.

Opening presents with the family on her birthday.  Aubrey really wanted some Vans shoes.
